Bighorn river Fly Fishing

Our goals, are your goals

Book your Montana fly fishing trip on the Bighorn River today!

The Bighorn River is considered by many as the finest trout fishery in America.  The river begins in Fort Smith, MT and flows almost compass north to it’s confluence with the Yellowstone River near Custer, MT.

While our hunting clients utilize all 75 miles of the Bighorn, the fishing is concentrated mainly on the upper 30 miles.  This is basically everything south of Hardin.   We do fish “at the dam”, however we specialize in fishing more intimate and secluded holes on the lower river.  This allows our guests to enjoy the Bighorn in relative solitude.  It is not uncommon to land a 20″ trout during your stay, and even first time fly anglers are going to have suceess!

Our guides use Clackacraft, RO, Adipose and Sunburst Drift boats that are clean and well kept.   Your day will consist of a mixture of dry flies, streamers and nymph fishing.  We believe  in hiring guides that are versatile and who can do everything well.  You can arrive with no gear whatsoever and our guides will provide everything needed for your trip inlcuding: flies, tackle, rods, waders and a comfortable stream side lunch and drinks all at no extra cost.  You’re on vacation, so leave all the planning to us!

River Rock Outfitters does not offer lodging.  We are happy to reccomend other businesses (who we consider our friends not our competitors) for a place to stay.  We can custom design a package that meets your fishing goals and your budget….. and even if you decide not to fish with us, no problem.  We’re happy to offer advice for free.

We hire only the very best independent contractors in the valley.  All our guides have floated the Bighorn well over 3000 times, and most are former or even current #1 guides from other local lodges.    RRO guides regularly have over 60+ years of combined experience on the water.
